Request (頼み, Tanomi) is the 166th chapter of the Golden Kamuy manga.
Synopsis[]
At the Orok settlement, one of the Oroks is divining the future for Asirpa's group with a reindeer's shoulder blade and tells them that somebody is coming from behind them. Shiraishi is worried if it is a bad omen but Kiroranke reassures him and says that an "n" shaped crack is an unlucky sign that means somebody is going to die. Hearing this, Shiraishi is relieved to see that they haven't received one.
Asirpa's group prepares to leave the Orok settlement by using one of their reindeers that the Orok people lent to give to their brothers in the North. Kiroranke tells Shiraishi that they should part ways and Shiraishi agrees to it, saying that his goals and Asirpa's goals are different. Asirpa says her farewells to Shiraishi as she, Kiroranke, and Ogata sets off for Russia.
As Shiraishi waves goodbye to Asirpa's group, he ponders on what he should do next and guesses that First Lieutenant Tsurumi would be the closest to the gold. However, he remembers Sugimoto's trust in him and chases after Asirpa's group to rejoin with them, with the excuse that there are blonde girls in Russia that he can have fun with. Meanwhile, back at the Orok settlement, the shoulder blade begins to form the "n" crack in it.
Elsewhere, Sugimoto's group are making their way up north towards the national border through heavy snow. Due to the weather, they are unable to see clearly in front of them and Ryu attempts to break away from the line. Tanigaki wonders if Ryu had a reason for going off line but Sugimoto brushes it off saying that he is just a hunting dog, unaware that they have strayed from the other sled in the snow.
Tsukishima notices that Sugimoto's sled isn't following them and fires off a gunshot which Sugimoto and Tanigaki hears. They then realize that they had been separated and fires off several rounds of their own but Tsukishima and Koito are unable to hear it through the heavy winds. Sugimoto gives up and says that they should make getting out of the winds and finding shelter their first piority. However, he becomes worried as if they don't do something quickly, they will die in the extreme weather conditions.
